Elliott Stockdale - An Overview

Elliott Stockdale is a professional football commentator in the UK and a Bachelor of Arts graduate in Football Journalism.

He specialises in audio descriptive commentary for the sight impaired audience and has delivered commentary for over 250 professional football games, including internationals at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the UEFA Women's Euros. He has also done European finals such as the UEFA Europa League and Premier League matches. He is the main audio commentator for Nottingham Forest, a Premier League team, for their home games.

His journalism experience extends to broadcast, news media and written works, as well as social media and streaming platforms across a diverse portfolio. He has worked for FIS Para Alpine as their athlete interviewer, and for Kuriakos TV as a Goalball commenator. He has also worked in broadcast television as a show runner and news script writer for the second largest broadcaster in the UK, ITV.

Elliott is a qualified audio descriptive trainer and established the audio commentary capabilities for Lincoln City, provisioning the equipment, training the commentators, and launching their service.

Football Journalism BA (Hons) - University of Derby

Derby is the first, and only, university in the UK to develop a specialist BA (Hons) degree in football journalism. It offers a clearly defined path to working in the industry and meets the growing demand for highly knowledgeable, highly skilled multimedia journalists.

Journalism at Derby is ranked in the Top 30 in The Guardian University Guide 2022.

My course has helped me develop compelling content for both traditional and emerging media platforms, be that print, radio or TV reports, as well as creating blogs and podcasts, digital photos, audio/video stories and content for social media platforms.

The course has provided me with significant hands-on experience reporting on football, covering many aspects of the news cycle from previewing matches, to live reporting, and post-match analysis, along with press conferences, interviews and sports features. General principles of journalism are also taught.

Worked at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022 and the UEFA Euro Championship in Germany in 2024.

Also covered the UEFA Women's Euros in 2022, and two UEFA Europa League Finals in Budapest and Dublin.

Delivered commentary for over 250 professional football games, including Premier League and international matches.

Audio descriptive commentator for Nottingham Forest from 2017 to 2024.

Provided audio descriptive commentary for six different English league clubs, from Fulham FC to Hashtag United.

Commentated on the 2023 European Para Table Tennis Championships and the 2022 IBSA Goalball Championships.

Regular lead for Swim England events both indoor and outdoor - from juniors all the way up to masters.

Other work includes commentary on the National League for 24/7 and the RLSS UK.

Host and presenter on multiple sports for an in venue audience

Worked with the English FA, Loughborough Lightning and British Weightlifting.

Host for the Loughborough Lightning Netball team and main announcer for the English National Team from Under 15 to Under 19.
